On the 29th of last month Quintin and I celebrated fours years of serving with the Navigators at Clemson! As I've thought about our time here, my heart is overwhelmed with encouragement and awe at all the Lord has done. I think back to a training summit we attended before moving and the verse a fellow team-mate encouraged me with, Psalm 126:6 says, "He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him." The pain of leaving Wisconsin, the only land I had ever known, seemed so hard, but God's Word has served to be very true. The result of moving to South Carolina, scattering seed with God's energy and help, has been great joy and blessing! Last night while reading Philemon, I was overwhelmed with emotion thinking about a huge part of that joy and blessing, the students we serve! I feel as if I can relate to Paul in Philemon 10-12 when he says, "I appeal to you for my child, Onesimus, whose father I became in my imprisonment. (Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.) I am sending him back to you, sending my very heart." Many of these students have become far more to us, they've become our "Onesimus". We have grown deep love for them, much like a parent feels for their child. What an incredible sheave the Lord has placed in our arms, students who have become our VERY HEART!
Thank you LORD for four precious years!!!
A recent photo of us at Kevan and Ashley Post's weddings.
These were the first two students at Clemson that we had
the privilege of discipling. They weren't dating when we met, so it
has been truly sweet to watch them fall deeper in
love with Jesus and each other!!!
Ashley & Myself!
I said it at the rehearsal dinner and I'll say it again now,
how thankful I am that the Lord not only gave me a
student to help but one of my dearest friends!
These are five of ladies I have had the blessing of discipling.
These are whom I speak of when I say MY VERY HEART!
Chelsey, what a sweet blog post! Thank you for letting us make it into the blog! Kevan and I have been so blessed by your faithfulness. We love you!
ReplyDeleteChelsey - thank you for being faithful to the Lord, and for sharing about it! Reading this last post helps me remember that while leaving this home will be difficult, the Lord WILL remain faithful to us and if we follow Him, it will be all worth the hardship of leaving. I can't wait to spend some time with you in the south! Love you!
